Hematology Trainee Education or Quality Improvement Award

Hematology Trainee Education or Quality Improvement Award

The Canadian Hematology Society Trainee Education and Quality Improvement Award is a research award that was initially developed by the Canadian Hematology Educators Committee in 2011 in order to support education-based research by Canadian hematology trainees. In 2013, this award was expanded to include research in quality improvement as well.

Canadian trainees interested in hematology are eligible to apply for this award.

Deadline: October 31st at 12:00 pm ET each year.

Award recipients presented at the CHS awards event in December during ASH and mentioned at the Jerry Scott Day each spring.

A panel of hematologists involved in education and quality improvement from across Canada review the applications and select the two trainees.

The highest rated projects each receive a $2000 award which is intended to be used for the support of their individual research projects.  Funding for this award is provided by the Canadian Hematology Society. One award is for a QI project and the other for an Education project.

The recipients of the awards are expected to give a brief presentation of their work at the following summer’s Jerry Scott Educational Half Day, which is held during our annual Hematology Residents Retreat (traditionally in June).

Submitted projects are rated according to the following criteria:
