CCMG-CCGM Emeritus/Emerita application

Emeritus/Emerita status is conferred by the Awards & Nomination committee to any CCMG member who requests this status and meets the following criteria:

Are fully retired from medical genetics practice.
Have notified the CCMG Office of their retirement and completed an application for Emeritus/Emerita status.
Contributed to the CCMG community by actively serving on CCMG committees including the Board for at least 15 years.
All past presidents of the CCMG ,as well as past recipients of the Founders’ Award for Career Achievement, the John L. Hamerton Service Award or the F. Clarke Fraser Award for Excellence in Mentorship and Teaching qualify for Emeritus status upon retirement from medical genetics practice.

Emeritus/Emerita members may continue to sit on committees and have a vote, but are not required to pay annual membership fees.

Process to Obtain Emeritus/Emerita Status

Upon retirement, past CCMG members who qualify for Emeritus/Emerita status must inform the CCMG office by email. They must also submit an application for Emeritus/Emerita status.

In August of each year, the CCMG Office will post the names and submitted applications to the Awards & Nominations committee folder on basecamp and notify the Chair(s) of the committee.

Decisions about awarding Emeritus/Emerita status will be made by the A&N committee at their first meeting of each year. Nominations supported by the committee will be forwarded to the Board by the Chair(s) of the committee through their board representative and copied to the CCMG office.

Once the board has approved the nominations, the A&N committee board representative will notify the Chair(s) of the committee. The committee Chair(s) will communicate with the members who have submitted requests for Emeritus/Emerita status as to the board’s decision. The CCMG office is to be copied on all communications.

The CCMG office will update membership records accordingly.

New Emeritus/Emerita status are announced at the Annual General Meeting.
