Vancouver Island Divisions of Family Practice:
International Medical Graduates Survey
You are invited to complete the following survey if you completed your medical training outside of Canada (i.e., you are an “International Medical Graduate” or IMG).
This survey is a collaborative effort among the Divisions of Family Practice on Vancouver Island. Divisions aim to support local communities of primary care providers and improve local health care systems. However, our knowledge about the International Medical Graduate cohort of our membership and how we can best support you is limited. We also want to know more about who comes to Vancouver Island and why, so that our physician recruitment and retention programs can be more targeted and more successful.
We acknowledge that high-level process change work is underway to address Return of Service program challenges. This survey is intended to augment that work and support the development of a concierge service for Physicians, specifically those internationally trained, once they arrive in our communities. This survey will provide the scaffolding for this concierge-type support.
You will be remunerated for 15 minutes of time (at the JCC sessional rate) for completing this 15-minute survey and you may enter to win one of two $100 DoorDash gift cards. Contact information required for processing sessionals and entering the lottery draw will be collected on a separate page, to maintain anonymity of your survey responses and to allow for each Division to process sessionals separately. A link to this page is available at the end of the survey. Although some questions ask for potentially identifying information (e.g., country of origin), results will be aggregated so that responses are less identifiable. You may also skip any questions that you do not wish to answer.
Results will be summarized into a final report and presentation, and shared with Recruitment and Retention Leads, EDs, and other program managers at the Divisions of Family Practice on Vancouver Island. The full report will not be shared publicly but select results and anonymous quotes may be included in Annual Reports which are publicly available. If you are interested, you may also request a copy of the final report (once completed) on the sessional payment page.
