About the Strategy

Sports and recreation events provide many benefits to Bonnyville and the surrounding region, including increased community pride, economic benefits (e.g. non-local visitation and spending), and the opportunity to leverage grants and other fundings for facility projects and other initiatives.

The Town of Bonnyville is developing a Sports Tourism Strategy that will guide how the Town supports the attraction, retention, and hosting of sports, recreation, and related events over the next 10 years. The Strategy will outline a clear vision for sports tourism and be used as a key resource by Town staff and Council when identifying where to focus available resources.

We need to hear from you!

Input from Bonnyville and area residents is an important aspect of developing the Strategy. Your input will help us better understand how residents engage with events, potential barriers and gaps to the community hosting more or better events, and future opportunities that should be explored.

Please complete this survey by November 11th, 2024. It should take you approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.

If you have any questions on the project please contact Steve Slawuta (project consultant with RC Strategies) at slawuta@rcstrategies.ca or Dan Heney (GM, Planning and Community Services with the Town of Bonnyville) at dheney@town.bonnyville.ab.ca or (780) 826- 3496.

Your responses will be combined with all others when reported – we will not be able to identify your specific feedback or identity (your anonymity will be protected). Some analysis will be reported according to smaller sub-groups such as household composition (e.g. age demographics, tenure living in the community, etc.). The information you provide will only be used for research purposes and securely stored in accordance with provincial and national legislation.
