The Campus Ambassador Program is a student-led initiative of Kids Help Phone, comprised of chapters in high schools and post-secondary institutions across Canada. Continuing the legacy of Cameron Hicks, a young person who navigated anxiety and reaching out for support through high school, this peer-led program focuses on creating awareness of mental health and the range of services and offerings available through Kids Help Phone.
Through various in-person and virtual interactions, Campus Ambassadors build their capacity as youth leaders by empowering others to learn about mental health through education and community engagement.
Key Activities:
- Lead Events & Initiatives: Brainstorm and launch events with your fellow ambassadors on campus, creating awareness of Kids Help Phone’s programs and services.
- Volunteering at Kids Help Phone's Events: Get out in your community for events such as the BMO Walk so Kids Can Talk
- Take Our Training: Gain knowledge and understanding of Kids Help Phone services and programs and become confident in discussing them with your peers. Additionally, ambassadors have opportunities to participate in other trainings like our Peer Support Training and Mental Health First Aid.
- Resource Distribution: Share mental health resources with peers on campus, in your community, etc.
- Digital Advocacy: Use social media platforms to spread awareness and share relevant resources.
- Feedback Participation: Take part in surveys or advisory committees to provide insights and help improve the organization’s programs.
- Other Activities: Engage in additional opportunities as they arise, such as in-person workshops and conferences with leading mental health professionals!

Once an application is reviewed and approved, you will be granted access to the volunteer training. After completion, you will be introduced to the team leads for your chapter and can begin your ambassador journey. If a chapter has not yet been started at your institution, we will reach out with further details.
