Part 1: Screening
The Waterloo Catholic District School Board (WCDSB) supports research activities in its schools and departments. Individuals interested in conducting research involving WCDSB schools, staff, students or parents must follow the processes detailed in the Research at the Waterloo Catholic District School Board Policy (APC031).

All sections of the application must be completed in full by the timeline listed below before your proposed research will be considered by the WCDSB Research & Advisory Committee.

What are the WCDSB Application Submission Dates?

NOTE: there is an approximate six to twelve week start date from submission:

Who needs to complete this Request Form?

These processes apply to all research requests/activities related to:

All research activities that take place on school premises during the school day
Recruitment of any study participants from WCDSB school communities (e.g., teachers, students, staff) for research activities that occur off WCDSB sites
All data requested from WCDSB for research activities occurring off WCDSB sites.

Can I download a copy (pdf) of the Part 1 (screening) and/or Part 2 of the application?

Researchers interested in viewing the full online application questions prior to completing the screener should email research@wcdsb.ca.

What documents will I be required to upload in this request?

Note that within this application you will be required to upload electronic copies of the following documents:

Recruitment materials (e.g., posters, flyers, advertisements, letters, and/or other verbal scripts used to recruit/gain access to participants)
Information letter(s) and consent form(s) for all participants
Data collection instruments (e.g., surveys, questionnaires, interview questions, focus group questions, tests used to collect data, etc.)
Vulnerable Sector Checks Applications from university researchers will not be reviewed unless they have received final ethics approval from their institution's research ethics board.
