The ASM Program Committee will review and select the successful applicants based on the following criteria:
  • Workshop interactivity
  • Relevance of session content to target audience (adult and pediatric rheumatologists, rheumatology residents and arthritis health professionals)
  • Practical application to CRA/AHPA membership
  • Experience/expertise of presenters
ASM workshops are intended to bring ALL rheumatology stakeholders together to discuss topics and issues relevant to the field.

Workshop Interactivity

Applicants are strongly encouraged to prioritize interactivity in their workshop design. Proposals that demonstrate meaningful, active learning and participant engagement will be given priority in the selection process. Interactivity considerations for learning activities include:
  • Incorporate live audience polling or use a simple show of hands
  • Build question-and-answer intervals throughout the session
  • Encourage small group or think-pair-share discussions
  • Facilitate case-based breakout activities
  • Use interactive slides to foster discussion
  • Assign brief pre-session work (i.e. reading materials or a self-assessment survey)
  • Conclude presentation with reflection or action prompts (i.e. ask participants to note a key takeaway they plan to apply in practice)
Suggested workshop topics include (but are not limited to):
  • Core to advanced clinical knowledge, including best practices and challenging cases
  • Up-to-date guidance on high-volume conditions (particularly autoinflammatory diseases, cellular therapies, IGG4, myositis, SLE, sjogrens and vasculitis)
  • Practical, clinic-ready tools (particularly AI and clinical care)
  • Practice management (particularly tailored to community practice and trainees)
  • Interprofessional and patient partnerships
  • Other unperceived needs of rheumatologists and health professionals (including diet & GLP-1 inhibitors and section 3 worshop, focussing on feedback and improvement)

Submitters will be notified if their workshop has been accepted by December 2026.

A 2027 ASM registration discount will be provided to selected workshop presenters (primary workshop presenter and up to one co-presenter, CRA/AHPA members and non-members). It is an expectation that all ASM presentations are to be made live and in person.
