Employer Award Nomination Instructions

The success of individual apprentices and Saskatchewan's apprenticeship training system are largely due to the efforts of employers. The SATCC is accepting nominations of exceptional apprentice employers for the Employer Award.

A recipient will be selected in each Employer Award category - fewer than 50 employees and more than 50 employees.

The nomination will determine that the employer:
  • Demonstrates a strong support of apprenticeship training;
  • Works to increase the probability of an apprentice's success in the trade; and,
  • Creates an environment of excellence.
Nomination Instructions:
  • All four questions must be clearly and thoroughly answered. Well thought-out answers contribute to the success of a nomination.
  • Provide as much information as possible to help the selection committee consider the employer’s qualifications for the award.
  • Only one employer may be nominated per form.
  • The nominator must be an individual. The nominator can be an employee of the organization.
The nomination form must be received by August 28, 2026 to be considered.

Please note that comments provided may be used at the SATCC Apprenticeship Celebration Dinner, but your name as a nominator will be kept confidential.

Explain how this employer:
  • Demonstrates strong support of apprenticeship training, for example through:
    • a long history of training apprentices
    • training apprentices in many different trades (if applicable)
    • hiring entry-level apprentices; and/or providing work experience opportunities for high school students
    • participating in career fairs that promote apprenticeship training and careers in the trades
    • promoting apprenticeship training and careers in the trades in local schools, to local businesses, etc.
    • facilitating staff participation on an SATCC industry board
    • involvement in Skills Canada Saskatchewan activities
 
  • Works to increase the probability of an apprentice’s success in the trade, for example by:
    • providing an excellent training environment
    • encouraging strong work ethic
    • ensuring management is supportive of training (on-the-job, technical, additional)
    • expecting excellence in work performed
    • demonstrating strong mentorship skills
 
  • Creates an environment of excellence, for example, where:
    • apprentices experience all or most areas and skills of their trade
    • apprentices feel valued
    • apprentices are rewarded or acknowledged for high-quality work
    • there is an opportunity for long-term employment (if realistic, considering the nature of the trade)
