Pan-Canadian Educator Survey on Artificial Intelligence

About
This survey aims to capture how educators across Canada are experiencing the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12 public education. The Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF/FCE) is leading the survey in partnership with the Dais at Toronto Metropolitan University and the Dialogue on Technology Project (DoT) at Simon Fraser University.

Your participation in this survey will:

  • Surface what’s actually happening in classrooms. There’s currently no national picture of how AI systems are impacting educators and students in public schools. Your responses will help us fill that gap and ensure we advocate for solutions that reflect educators’ lived experience and expertise.

  • Strengthen your union’s bargaining on AI issues. The insights you share regarding the impact of AI on your work will become evidence your union can use in negotiations and provincial/territorial advocacy efforts.

  • Help bring educators to the decision-making table. The CTF/FCE will use these findings in its ongoing work to lobby the federal government to protect K-12 public education from AI-related harms. Your insights will also inform ongoing projects to engage educators in developing concrete solutions that protect human-centred teaching and learning.

In this survey, artificial intelligence refers to technologies that generate content, or make predictions, recommendations, or decisions. This includes generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Copilot, MagicSchool, NotebookLM, or SchoolAI; AI features built into platforms you may already use, such as Gemini embedded in Google Classroom, Copilot in Microsoft 365; or AI features in student information systems or other administrative platforms.
